Nigeria's National Assembly Not the World's Busiest Parliament

On Tuesday, Ogunlana made a claim during a capacity-building programme for legislative aides in the 10th National Assembly, stating that Nigeria's National Assembly is the busiest in the world, with over 14,000 personnel, excluding the 469 federal lawmakers and their visitors. He noted that the Senate and House of Representatives had passed a combined total of 3,500 bills in the last three years, with 1,500 bills from the Senate and 2,000 from the House.

Despite these figures indicating a significant legislative workload, the claim lacks evidence as there is no clear, universally accepted metric to determine which parliament is the busiest globally. The absence of an official record confirming Nigeria's National Assembly as the busiest parliament further undermines Ogunlana's assertion.

While Guinness World Records recognizes the National People's Congress of China as the largest parliament, it does not have a corresponding record for the busiest parliament.
