Gbajabiamila Cleared in PFIPC Scandal by House Committee

On September 2, the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee, led by Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, exonerated Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, from allegations related to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The committee's preliminary investigation revealed that the PFIPC was not lawfully established by the Federal Government, and documents purportedly conferring legitimacy on it were found to be forged.

Notably, a letter claiming to appoint Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi as Director-General of the PFIPC was examined, but the committee established that Gbajabiamila neither issued nor signed it, and the letterhead was not authentic. The committee concluded that there was no evidence linking Gbajabiamila to the PFIPC's establishment or operations.

Instead, they noted that he took immediate action to initiate investigations upon learning of the concerns, communicating with relevant security and investigative agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
