Wike Defends Gbajabiamila Against Fake Agency Allegations

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, addressed allegations against Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, during a monthly media briefing in Abuja. Wike described the claims as politically motivated, asserting that they aimed to discredit Gbajabiamila, who is a close aide to the president.

The controversy arose following allegations made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identified himself as the Director General of the President's Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, an agency that President Tinubu declared non-existent. Wike rejected suggestions that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the opposition party were involved in an investigation against Gbajabiamila.

He emphasized the need for credible evidence before making serious allegations against public officials and noted that Gbajabiamila's integrity should not be questioned without substantiation. Wike also mentioned that the Chief of Staff does not have the authority to create budgets, further clarifying the responsibilities associated with the position.
