NDC Urges Kwara Governor to Secure Release of Abducted Victims

The Kwara State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to intensify efforts to secure the release of 176 women and children who were abducted from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area. In a statement issued on Monday by Ibraheem Gbagba, the party described the ongoing captivity of the victims, which has lasted for 158 days, as a humanitarian tragedy.

The NDC emphasized the emotional and psychological distress faced by the families of the abducted individuals and commended the recent rescue operation in Oyo State, which demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated action and intelligence gathering. The party urged the Kwara State government to adopt a proactive approach in securing the release of the abducted individuals and to strengthen collaboration with federal security agencies.

They recommended the establishment of a high-level intervention negotiation team and called for increased security presence in vulnerable communities across Kaiama and Kwara North. The NDC also appealed for regular updates on rescue efforts and support measures for affected families.
