Alao-Akala Family Faces Legal Battle Over Inheritance

The inheritance saga of the late former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala has escalated into a legal dispute among family members. Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, the first daughter, has filed a suit (443/2024) at the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, seeking to be recognized as a principal heir to her father's vast assets.

She expresses concern over the administration of the estate, alleging that assets have been disposed of without her knowledge or consent. The defendants include Oluwakemi Alao-Akala, the widow of the late governor, and Olamid Alabi, his daughter, who are named as executors of the estate.

Aderinto's legal action includes a request for an injunction to prevent any further transactions involving the estate until the matter is resolved. Additionally, she seeks a court-sanctioned DNA test to verify paternity, amid claims of an incomplete probate process.

This family conflict raises significant questions about legacy and the management of private wealth in the public eye.
