Fani-Kayode, Omokri Oppose Northern Power Return Before 2031

Femi Fani-Kayode, the Ambassador Designate to South Africa, and Reno Omokri, the Ambassador Designate to Mexico, issued a joint statement opposing the return of power to Northern Nigeria before 2031. They argue that such a move would be unpatriotic and a betrayal of the rotational agreement that has been a cornerstone of Nigeria's democracy since 1999.

The two allies contend that the North has already enjoyed two full uninterrupted terms under former President Muhammadu Buhari, and they advocate for equitable power distribution to ensure stability and progress in Nigeria. They endorse Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027, highlighting his administration's achievements, including 12 consecutive cycles of GDP growth and significant infrastructure projects.

They reference Switzerland's model of power-sharing among its multi-ethnic population as a successful strategy for maintaining stability and peace, urging Nigerians to support Tinubu's agenda for a prosperous future.
