Fani-Kayode, Omokri Reject Northern Power Return in 2027

Femi Fani-Kayode, the ambassador-designate to South Africa, and Reno Omokri, the ambassador-designate to Mexico, have publicly rejected the idea of power returning to Northern Nigeria in 2027. They made this statement on a Saturday, asserting that the Southern region should maintain leadership until 2031.

They referenced the two full uninterrupted terms served by former President Muhammadu Buhari, emphasizing that the power rotation arrangement established in 1999 should be upheld to ensure stability and unity in Nigeria. Fani-Kayode and Omokri described any notion of power returning to the North as unpatriotic and detrimental to the equilibrium and progress of Nigeria.

They highlighted that the agreement was intended to prevent political instability and maintain a balanced rotation of power between the North and South, which they believe is crucial for the nation's future.
