Fanny Amun Resigns from NFF Fact-Finding Committee

Fanny Amun, the former General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), explained his resignation as chairman of the NFF's fact-finding committee during a press conference at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, on August 25, 2026. He stated that he resigned immediately after submitting the committee's report to protect its independence and integrity.

Amun completed the report in less than a week, despite a two-week deadline, to prevent any external influence on its findings. The NFF had established the committee on August 17, 2026, in response to disappointing results from Nigeria’s national teams, particularly the Super Falcons, who failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Amun criticized the NFF's electoral statutes, advocating for amendments that would require all candidates, including current board members, to undergo anti-corruption screening. The committee included members such as Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie, Mutiu Adepoju, and Alex Mana, with Nasiru Jibril serving as secretary.
