Amun Resigns from NFF Committee to Ensure Report Integrity

Fanny Amun, the former General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), resigned as chairman of the NFF's fact-finding committee shortly after submitting its report. He stated that his resignation was to protect the integrity and independence of the committee's findings.

Amun completed the report ahead of the two-week deadline set by the NFF to avoid any external influence on the conclusions. The NFF inaugurated the committee on August 17, 2026, to investigate the poor performances of Nigeria's national teams, particularly the Super Falcons, who faced a quarter-final exit in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and subsequently missed qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Amun criticized the NFF's electoral statutes for exempting current board members from anti-corruption screening, calling for amendments to ensure all contestants undergo the same scrutiny. The committee included notable figures such as Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie, Mutiu Adepoju, and Alex Mana, with Nasiru Jibril as secretary.
