FCC Introduces Reforms for Federal Recruitment Compliance

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has implemented reforms to strengthen adherence to the Federal Character principle and enhance transparency in federal recruitment processes. Hajiya Halima Ahmadu-Jabiru, the Federal Commissioner representing Nasarawa State, stated that these reforms were initiated by the commission’s fifth board under Executive Chairman Hon.

Ayo Hulayat Omidiran. A significant reform includes the launch of a website where all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) must advertise job vacancies, ensuring equal opportunities for qualified Nigerians.

The website also features a confidential whistleblowing platform for reporting job racketeering. MDAs are required to inform the FCC at least two weeks prior to recruitment exercises for monitoring purposes.

Only those that comply with the Federal Character principle will receive Certificates of Compliance, while non-compliant agencies may face sanctions. The commission has also approached the National Assembly to establish a tribunal for enforcement against defaulting agencies.

Ahmadu-Jabiru expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for her appointment and to Governor Abdullahi Sule for her nomination.
