FCC and NRC Enhance Partnership for Fair Representation

On Tuesday, the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) renewed their commitment to promoting fair federal representation in recruitment and promotion processes. This initiative was discussed during an interactive meeting held at the FCC headquarters in Abuja, led by Hon.

Peter Ez, who emphasized the need for a proactive approach to enforce federal character principles as mandated by the Nigerian Constitution. The meeting aimed to address previous inadequacies in recruitment and promotion monitoring, with a focus on ensuring that future appointments reflect equitable state representation.

Dr. Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of NRC, described the engagement as productive, highlighting the importance of collaboration among government institutions.

Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, the Executive Chairman of FCC, reiterated the commission's commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian feels a sense of belonging and compliance with federal character principles.

She also mentioned that the FCC prefers a collaborative approach rather than punitive measures for agencies that fail to comply.
