FCSC Grants Automatic Promotions to Kidnapped Civil Servants

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has announced automatic promotions for six civil servants who were kidnapped while traveling from Kogi State to Abuja. This decision was revealed by the Chairman of the FCSC, Prof.

Tunji Olaopa, during a recognition dinner in Abuja. Olaopa expressed regret over the kidnapping incident and highlighted the commission's commitment to addressing the trauma faced by the victims.

The promotions will elevate the affected civil servants to the next grade level. Olaopa also discussed the implementation of a decentralized promotion examination process, which will utilize technology to facilitate assessments without requiring travel to Abuja.

He noted that the commission aims to enhance the credibility and transparency of the promotion exercise through computer-based testing (CBT) methods, which are set to be employed in the 2025 director-level promotion exercise. The FCSC is focused on reforming the civil service system to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
