Wike: 70% of Completed Abuja Projects Were Abandoned

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, revealed during a monthly media chat in Abuja that 70% of the projects he completed were awarded 15 to 16 years ago under previous administrations. Wike criticized the abandonment of these contracts by the past government and stated that his administration has focused on reviving these projects to benefit residents.

He noted that 60% of the projects executed in the last three years were those that had been previously abandoned. Wike emphasized the importance of completing inherited projects rather than starting new ones, arguing that the public should question the abandonment of such projects.

He attributed the pace of development in the Federal Capital Territory to the support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly the decision to remove the Treasury Single Account, which made funds more readily available for infrastructure development. Wike's administration aims to improve transportation and enhance the quality of life for residents in the Federal Capital Territory.
