FCT Police Chief Sanusi Warns Officers Against Extortion

Ahmad Muhammad Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), issued a stern warning to police officers against extortion practices, stating that officers found engaging in such activities would be treated as criminals. During a speech to senior police personnel, he emphasized the importance of professionalism and civil conduct when interacting with the public.

Sanusi declared that extortion would not be tolerated, specifically mentioning the targeting of commercial tricycle and motorcycle operators. He stated that officers must choose between serving as law enforcement agents or engaging in criminal conduct, warning that any officer who chooses the latter would face consequences.

Sanusi also instructed officers to focus on maintaining security within urban areas and to intensify efforts against crime, including robbery and phone snatching. He encouraged the public to report any misconduct by officers, reinforcing the need for accountability within the police force.
