FCT Golf Association Promotes Women's Golf in Abuja

On Saturday, the FCT Golf Association, chaired by Mr Akabom Enebong, hosted Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan, the Head of Service of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), for her inaugural golf training at the TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club in Abuja. This initiative aims to promote women's participation in golf and support grassroots development.

Enebong emphasized the importance of involving decision-makers to expand the sport's reach in the Federal Capital Territory, noting that women are significantly underrepresented in sports despite numerous opportunities, with 80 to 90 percent of sports scholarships for women remaining untapped. The association is also launching a Golf STEM Academy to integrate golf with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education in schools.

Nathan expressed her excitement about the training, highlighting the health benefits of golf and encouraging more women to participate. She commended the FCT Golf Association for changing perceptions about golf being an elite sport.
