FCT Minister Cracks Down on Car Lots in Green Areas

The FCT Minister has expressed concern over the conversion of designated green areas, such as Millennium Park, into car lots and has ordered an immediate halt to all unauthorized uses of these spaces. This directive is part of the FCT Administration's broader efforts to mitigate flooding issues in certain areas of the Federal Capital City.

To ensure compliance, the Minister has established a task force dedicated to enforcing this directive and preventing further encroachment on green areas. Additionally, an investigation has been launched into civil servants who allegedly issued illegal approvals for the use of these areas as car dealership lots.

The FCT Head of Service, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has summoned the affected officials, particularly directors from the Parks and Recreation Department, Abuja Environmental Protection Board, and Traffic Management and Urban Affairs, to address the situation.
