FCT Minister Wike Targets Illegal Bus Loading in Abuja

Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, announced a crackdown on illegal bus loading in Abuja, stating that vehicles caught operating from unauthorized locations would be impounded and auctioned. This warning was issued on Saturday following an inspection of ongoing projects in the capital.

Wike expressed frustration over ongoing traffic violations and the practice of roadside passenger loading by commercial transport operators. He noted that the Mabushi and Central Business District bus and taxi terminals are fully operational and designated for loading and offloading passengers.

Previous enforcement attempts had failed, prompting the FCT Administration to adopt tougher measures against persistent offenders. Wike emphasized that the administration would no longer tolerate disregard for traffic regulations and that strict enforcement would commence immediately.

He highlighted the importance of the accredited terminals in centralizing public transportation, reducing roadside congestion, and improving security and traffic management in Abuja.
