FCT Administration to Upgrade 14 Hospitals Including Utako

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has initiated plans to renovate and upgrade its 14 general hospitals, with a focus on the long-abandoned Utako General Hospital. This decision was made during the 19th meeting of the FCT Executive Council, presided over by Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and attended by Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud.

Following the meeting, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, reported that Chief of Staff Chidi Amadi confirmed the council's review of 20 memoranda. Mandate Secretary for Health Secretariat and Environmental Services, Adedolapo Fasawe, stated that the renovation will include new medical equipment and upgraded facilities.

The project aims to improve the availability of quality, affordable healthcare for residents. Additionally, Wike directed the commencement of work on the Utako General Hospital, which will involve construction, equipping, and staffing of the facility.
