FCTA Plans to Relocate Indigenous Communities in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disclosed plans to relocate indigenous communities in Abuja as part of efforts to expand infrastructure and improve living conditions. The proposal, made by FCTA Minister Nyesom Wike, specifically affects residents of Kpaduma Village near Guzap, who may be moved to Wasa District for infrastructural development. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address long-standing concerns regarding the marginalization of indigenous people in the Federal Capital Territory. Wike emphasized that every individual occupying land in Abuja will receive a certificate of occupancy, which will enable them to benefit economically. The FCTA has also begun issuing certificates of occupancy to indigenous landowners to further support economic development. Ongoing efforts include providing infrastructure such as roads, water supply, and satellite communication, aimed at bridging the gap between urban centers and rural areas.
