Emeruwa Urges Wike to Renew Abuja's Sports Facilities

Dr. Christian Emeruwa, a sports development advocate and official with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has written an open letter to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), urging him to extend the ongoing infrastructure renewal in Abuja to key sporting facilities, specifically the Moshood Abiola National Stadium and the Old Parade Ground. Emeruwa noted that while Abuja has seen significant improvements in road infrastructure and public facilities, major sports facilities have been largely neglected.

He expressed his admiration for the urban development under Wike's leadership, citing extensive road construction and beautification projects. However, he criticized the deteriorating condition of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, contrasting it with the modern developments around it and questioning whether its state had been communicated to Wike, who previously supported sports development in Rivers State.

Emeruwa emphasized the importance of sports in national development and suggested that stakeholders may not have adequately advocated for these facilities.
