Nigerian Ministry of Education Denies Abandoning Students in Morocco, Ensures Support Continuity

The Nigerian Ministry of Education has addressed allegations of neglecting Nigerian students in Morocco under a bilateral scholarship scheme. The Ministry denied abandoning the students, stating that all beneficiaries admitted to the program until 2024 will receive approved payments from the 2024 budget cycle.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa confirmed that no fresh bilateral awards have been issued since October 2025.

The Ministry emphasized a shift towards reducing public expenditure by sponsoring foreign programs fully through host countries, ensuring ongoing support for existing beneficiaries and offering options for students to transition back to Nigerian institutions if desired.
