FG Begins Payments for 2024 Capital Projects by March 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced payments for outstanding capital projects from the 2024 budget, with a deadline set for March 31, 2026, for full implementation. This initiative was disclosed by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Bola Tinubu, and aims to clear backlogs and accelerate budget execution.

The directive requires ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to fast-track documentation for the 2025 capital budget, enabling immediate processing of payments. The announcement follows assurances from Minister of State for Finance, Dori Uzoka, regarding outstanding capital payments for the 2024 and 2025 budget processes, which are expected to conclude by the end of March.

Additionally, the President has proposed a bill to repeal the 2024 Appropriations Act, which amounts to N35.06 trillion, and re-enact a revised total expenditure of N43.56 trillion for the Federal Government across the country.
