FG Declares Public Holiday for Eid ul Mawlid Celebration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared a public holiday in observance of Eid ul Mawlid, as announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. This declaration was made in a statement issued on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani.

In his message, Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and the diaspora, encouraging them to reflect on the teachings and values associated with the life of Prophet Muhammad. He emphasized the importance of compassion, humility, and service to humanity, stating that these qualities are essential for the nation at this time.

The minister called on all Nigerians, not just Muslims, to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and national cohesion, highlighting that building a peaceful nation is a collective responsibility. He urged citizens to celebrate Eid with restraint and mutual respect while wishing the Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous celebration.

Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu's administration to protecting lives and property and promoting peace across the country.
