Minister Urges Muslims to Reflect on Prophet Muhammad's Virtues

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, called on Muslims in Nigeria and the diaspora to reflect on the virtues of Prophet Muhammad during the Eid al-Maulud celebration. He highlighted the importance of compassion, humility, peaceful coexistence, and service to humanity, urging Nigerians to draw lessons from the Prophet's life.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized that building a harmonious society is a collective responsibility and encouraged individuals of all faiths to unite in prayer for peace, cohesion, and stability. He also urged the public to celebrate with restraint, tolerance, and mutual respect.

In an interview with Voice of Nigeria, Imam Abdulraheem Abdulkabir echoed the call for Muslims to embrace the love and peaceful disposition of Prophet Muhammad towards all humanity, regardless of faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity. Eid al-Maulud, also known as Mawlid al-Nabi, is celebrated with special prayers, Quranic recitations, and lectures focusing on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

The Nigerian government has declared the day a public holiday.
