FG Commits to Ending Terrorism and Banditry in Nigeria

Georg Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, stated that the Federal Government is determined to end terrorism and banditry in Nigeria. He made this assertion at a peace and security summit held in Abuja, where he represented the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the SGF, Aminu Yar Gaya.

Akum called for media support to ensure balanced reporting on security issues, highlighting the need for the media to assist military stakeholders in the fight against insecurity. He noted that while attacks are reported, the efforts of the military and the government in combating terrorism and banditry are often overlooked.

The summit, attended by various stakeholders, including Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Bensons Babajimi, and Deputy Representative Ahmad Kalambaina, was described as timely given the current security challenges facing the nation. Babajimi emphasized the importance of legislative support in strengthening national security and ensuring peace and order.
