FG Denies Plans to Scrap NBAIS, Supports Education Institutions

The Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria has categorically denied false claims circulating on social media that the federal government is considering a move to abolish the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS). The ministry clarified that it did not initiate any bill in the National Assembly seeking the abolition of NBAIS, nor has it proposed any policy aimed at undermining the board's statutory mandate.

The claims were described as unfounded and misleading, creating unnecessary anxiety among students, parents, and educational stakeholders. The ministry emphasized that NBAIS remains a duly recognized examining and certification body operating within Nigeria's educational framework.

Furthermore, the Federal Ministry of Education reiterated its commitment to supporting legally established educational institutions and examination bodies in accordance with existing laws and national educational policies, which promote inclusivity and equal opportunities. The ministry urged the public to disregard unverified information that could mislead citizens and undermine public confidence in government institutions.
