FG Donates N100m to Honor Chief Simon Shango at 80

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation Georg Akum, announced a donation of N100 million in honor of Chief Simon Shango, a veteran journalist and elder statesman, during a ceremony celebrating his 80th birthday in Abuja. The event included the unveiling of Shango's autobiography titled "Thoughts of a Servant," which reflects on his life and career, particularly during Nigeria's transitional period.

Akum praised Shango for his dedication to service and advocacy for the underprivileged, recalling his impactful writings from Akum's secondary school days. The autobiography was presented in 50 copies, each priced at N2 million, encouraging attendees to contribute to the celebration.

Dr. Arum Adamu reviewed the book, highlighting its dual themes and significant life milestones.

Chief Ikelif Uba and Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs also participated in the event, emphasizing the memoir's reflection on public life and social conscience.
