Kano State Allocates 32% Education Budget, Hires 16,000 Teachers

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Education, commended Kano State for its decision to allocate 32% of its budget to education and for the recruitment of 16,000 teachers over three years. Dr.

Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, described this move as one of the boldest investments in human capital development in Nigeria. During a ceremony where appointment letters were presented to 4,900 newly recruited teachers, Alausa emphasized that quality teachers are crucial for building a globally competitive education system.

He praised Governor Abba Yusuf for making education a centerpiece of his administration and noted that Kano's commitment to nearly one-third of its budget for education demonstrates a genuine commitment to human capital development. Alausa also highlighted the importance of investing in educational infrastructure, including smart schools and new secondary schools, to improve the quality of life for citizens and align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's development agenda.
