FG Inspects Electric Vehicle Assembly Plant in Borno

On Thursday, the Federal Government inspected the assembly of 10,000 electric vehicles in Maiduguri, Borno State, intended for distribution across the six North-East states. Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, stated that the project, managed by the North-East Development Commission, includes buses, tricycles, and taxis, along with necessary charging infrastructure.

Momoh expressed his satisfaction with the assembly progress, noting that nearly all vehicles are on-site and being assembled. He emphasized that the project would create job opportunities for youths, estimating that at least 100,000 jobs would be generated during the assembly process.

Additionally, he linked the vehicle project to ongoing rural road improvements, stating that the vehicles would enhance transportation for both people and agricultural products. Momoh urged the North-East Development Commission to ensure rural communities are included in the distribution of the electric vehicles once completed.
