FG and Lagos State Launch 24/7 Power Pilot Initiative

The Federal Government and the Lagos State Government have agreed to collaborate on delivering stable and reliable electricity in Lagos through the 24/7 Energy Zones pilot, approved by President Bola Tinubu. This agreement was reached during a technical session at Lagos House, Marina, involving Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, along with senior officials from both governments.

The Lagos corridor is the pilot's first location, with plans to extend to Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, and Enugu, Port Harcourt. Minister Tegbe indicated that the Ministry of Power has engaged electricity distribution companies to ensure increased power offtake and reliable electricity supply.

A Joint Technical Committee has been established to address outstanding issues and recommend next steps for the pilot's implementation, chaired by the Managing Director of NISO and co-chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Energy. The committee will report to a Steering Committee led by Governor Sanwo-Olu and Tegbe.
