Minister Tegbe Discusses 24-Hour Power Supply Plan

Joseph Tegbe, the Minister of Power, conducted a closed-door meeting with the leadership of select electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to discuss the proposed Energy Zones. These zones are intended to ensure a stable, 24-hour power supply to homes, businesses, and industries in Nigeria's highest-demand areas, specifically the Lagos axis, the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano corridor, and the Enugu-Port Harcourt axis.

Tegbe emphasized that challenges in the power sector extend beyond generation and transmission, highlighting the importance of effective electricity distribution. The Energy Zones aim to bridge the gap in electricity delivery, enhance commercial and industrial demand, and improve DisCo revenue and collections.

The Federal Government is committed to developing infrastructure in these high-demand areas to meet the growing economic needs. This initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, focusing on reliable energy as a cornerstone for economic growth, industrialization, and job creation.

Attendees included leaders from Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric, Eko Power, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, and Sahara Energy Group.
