FG launches forest guards project to enhance national security

The Federal Government has launched a forest guards project to address the escalating security challenges in Nigeria. National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu announced the establishment of the National Forest Guard system as part of the Renewed Hope agenda approved by President Bola Tinubu.

The initiative aims to recruit forest guards at the state level to safeguard communities and protect the country's natural resources. While some states have already initiated forest guard units, the federal announcement provides much-needed support.

Ribadu emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in the security sector and urged security personnel to remain motivated in maintaining peace and order. Chairman of NDLEA, Gen Buba Marwa, highlighted the link between drug trafficking and national security threats, emphasizing the agency's efforts in combating drug-related issues.

The government is determined to enhance security and restore peace across Nigeria.
