FG and NANS Collaborate for Student Empowerment in Agriculture

The Federal Government, in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), is initiating a partnership aimed at empowering students through agriculture, particularly in livestock development and food security. This initiative was discussed during a courtesy visit by NANS leadership to the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, in Abuja on Tuesday.

The partnership aligns with President Bola Tinubu's "Renew Hope" agenda and includes plans for the first national student livestock and food security summit, scheduled for September 2026. The summit will focus on empowering Nigerian students in livestock development to create jobs and enhance food security.

During the meeting, the Minister expressed willingness to support students with annual scholarships, research grants, and entrepreneurship programs. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical industry experience, preparing students to contribute actively to Nigeria's agricultural transformation.
