FG Supports 5,642 Gombe Farmers with Agricultural Inputs

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated support for 5,642 smallholder farmers in Gombe State through the Renewed Hope Smallholder Support Value Chain Fund. This initiative, launched in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Bank of Agriculture, aims to improve food production and strengthen the agricultural value chain.

The program is designed to enhance farmers' access to quality agricultural inputs and financial services, ensuring they are not solely responsible for agricultural production. Ayo Sotinrin, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Agriculture, emphasized that this intervention would provide essential inputs, financial services, and market access.

The program targets two million smallholder farmers nationwide, with nearly 200,000 already financed. So far, 1.1 million bags of fertilizer have been distributed, with a goal of 10 million bags and 16,470 metric tons of certified seeds.

The initiative also includes partnerships with 20 farmer aggregation companies and 15 input suppliers to ensure effective implementation.
