FG Launches 160-Shop Vegetable Market in Gombe State

The Federal Government of Nigeria inaugurated a modern vegetable market consisting of 160 shops in Kwadon, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, Gombe State. This initiative, led by the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), aims to strengthen market access for farmers and enhance the agricultural value chain.

Cornelius Adebayo, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NALDA, described the project as a model of collaboration between the federal and state governments. The market is designed to provide linkages between vegetable farmers and buyers, stimulating economic activity in the area.

The Gombe State government has also provided complementary infrastructure, including perimeter fencing, roads, solar-powered streetlights, and water facilities. Adebayo disclosed that NALDA has completed irrigation facilities and cold storage infrastructure in three locations across Gombe State to support year-round vegetable production.

This project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on food security and rural development.
