Tukur Mamu Re-Arraigned on 17 Terrorism Charges

Tukur Mamu was re-arraigned on May 26, 2023, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on an amended 17-count terrorism charge linked to the 2022 Abuja-Kaduna train attack. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include allegations of money laundering, illegal possession of firearms, and providing support to the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The prosecution, led by Assistant Director of the Federal Ministry of Justice David Kasw, introduced additional allegations, including Mamu's involvement in obstructing negotiations for the release of hostages and receiving ransom payments. The charges also allege that Mamu possessed foreign currencies and a Delta Magnum pump-action firearm without a valid license.

The trial commenced with cross-examination of witnesses, and Justice Moham Umar adjourned the matter until June 8, 2023, for further proceedings.
