FG and REA Launch 42 Solar Projects in Adamawa, Kebbi

The Federal Government, in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), launched 42 solar projects in Adamawa and Kebbi states to enhance rural electrification and stimulate economic growth. The initiative includes 39 mini-grid projects in Adamawa State, which will provide nearly 27 megawatts of clean energy, benefiting approximately 40,000 households and 6,000 small businesses.

Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegb, the Minister of Power, described the project as a significant milestone in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri emphasized the importance of this infrastructure drive in combating energy poverty.

In Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris inaugurated the construction of a 3.5 megawatt solar power plant and a 33kV power infrastructure project, which will include a robust battery storage system to ensure a sustainable power supply. Ali Kobeissi, Chief Executive Officer of Kobeissi Electric Mechanical Ltd, assured stakeholders that the project would be completed within eight months.
