FG Denies Approval of NYSC Khaki Replacement with Adire

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande, clarified that there has been no approval to replace the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) khaki uniform with Adire fabric. This statement was made in response to widespread reactions following earlier comments made by Olawande during a television interview.

He explained that the mention of Adire was merely an example of proposals being considered as part of an ongoing review of the NYSC scheme. Olawande stressed that no final decision has been made regarding the fabric or design of a new NYSC uniform.

The Federal Government is evaluating various options based on professionalism, national identity, durability, cost-effectiveness, and the ability to promote national pride. He urged Nigerians not to let the debate over the proposed uniform overshadow the broader objectives of ongoing reforms aimed at making the NYSC scheme relevant to current realities, improving employment opportunities, promoting entrepreneurship, and enhancing service delivery for graduates.
