Nigeria Urged to Designate Katampe Hill & Waterfalls as National Park for Environmental Protection

Prof. Afolabi, during an event in Abuja, called for the designation of Katampe Hill & Waterfalls as a National Park to safeguard Nigeria's environmental heritage, boost sustainable tourism, and ensure long-term water security for local communities.

The initiative, supported by the Foundation for the Conservation of Nigerian Rivers and Earth Law Center, aims to redefine Nigeria's relationship with nature and protect the fragile ecosystem of Katampe. The legal personhood campaign seeks to recognize the river as a living entity, promoting environmental education, scientific research, and eco-tourism to contribute to Nigeria's sustainable economic development.
