FG Urges Media to Deny Publicity to Bandits, Terrorists

At the Arewa Media Summit held in Kano, the Federal Government of Nigeria called on journalists and social media influencers to deny publicity to bandits and terrorists. Mohan Idri, the Minister of Information, made this appeal, highlighting the media's crucial role in combating violent extremism and promoting national unity.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, reiterated the importance of responsible media practices, especially with the upcoming 2027 general elections. He warned against the spread of fake news and disinformation that could threaten national unity and public confidence.

The summit aimed to strengthen dialogue between the government and citizens, with a focus on transparency and accountability in media practices. Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf also encouraged the state to emulate the federal initiative by deploying 150 young people across various ministries to improve government communication and public enlightenment.
