OPay Details Eligibility for ₦50,000 Relief Payment

OPay has communicated to its customers that eligibility for the Federal Government's ₦50,000 monthly relief payment is determined by a special notification appearing on their mobile app. This clarification was made in a post on 𝕏, as interest in the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) increased.
Customers who do not see the notification are not eligible for the relief. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, announced the program on October 30, stating that vulnerable Nigerians would receive ₦50,000 monthly to help with the high cost of living.
The government has partnered with licensed digital financial service providers, including OPay, to facilitate disbursement. Beneficiaries will receive a consent SMS before funds are transferred to their accounts or wallets.
Doro emphasized that no application, fee, or registration through agents is necessary, and urged Nigerians to protect their personal information from potential fraud.
