OPay Guides Nigerians on Accessing N50,000 Cash Support

OPay has announced how Nigerians can verify their eligibility for the Federal Government's N50,000 monthly cash support under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI). On November 3, 2026, OPay stated that eligible customers would receive a pop-up notification on their app homepage.

To proceed, customers must tap the notification and follow the displayed steps. Additionally, eligibility can be checked by dialing *955*20#.

For further assistance, OPay directed users to the NERSI helpline at 07000222222. The company also warned against fraudsters exploiting the relief program, emphasizing that it would never request customers' PINs or one-time passwords (OTPs) during the payment process.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, announced on October 30, 2026, that NERSI payments had commenced, aimed at alleviating financial burdens on vulnerable households amid rising living costs. Recipients will receive an SMS for consent before funds are transferred, with no application or registration fees required.
