NFC Calls for Tailored Insurance Policies for Filmmakers

Dr. Ali Nuhu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), delivered a keynote address at the Insurance Industry Policy Forum held in Lagos.

He called for the development of insurance products specifically designed to meet the unique needs of film production in Nigeria. Nuhu highlighted that the absence of a safety net within the film production value chain leads to significant setbacks, including financial losses and job instability.

He stressed the importance of creating a supportive policy framework that would enable filmmakers and content creators to benefit from insurance services. Nuhu pointed out that the Nigerian film industry, driven by passion and talent, requires investment and funding to thrive.

He urged the establishment of insurance products that cover various aspects of film production, including cast, crew, equipment, and locations, to facilitate growth and protect stakeholders. The forum included participation from veteran filmmakers, production companies, and representatives from regulatory and insurance institutions.
