Finance Minister Urges NSC to Enhance Competitiveness

On a visit to the Nigerian Customs Service (NSC) Headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, charged the NSC to set world-class benchmarks supported by measurable outcomes to enhance Nigeria's regional and global competitiveness. This visit marked his first Board meeting as Finance Minister.

Oyedele commended the NSC leadership and staff for their progress in revenue generation and trade facilitation but cautioned against complacency. He stressed the need for results-driven performance, urging the NSC to focus on port efficiency, transparency, accelerated cargo clearance, and integrity in revenue collection.

He assured that the Federal Government is committed to providing the necessary technology, tools, and policy support to empower Customs officers as key drivers of Nigeria's economic growth and competitiveness.
