RMGN Praises NCS Reforms and Global Recognition for Adeniyi

The Revenue Monitoring Group (RMGN) issued a statement on Monday in Abuja commending the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its bold reforms that have transformed it from a revenue collection agency to a key driver of national development. Signed by RMGN President Dr. Ifeanyi Duruaku and Secretary General Comrade Tor Lumun, the statement noted the successful transition from manual processes to digital, intelligence-led operations.

The RMGN highlighted the implementation of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) and the B’Odogwu platform, which have minimized human interference and expedited cargo clearance. Furthermore, the NCS's collaboration with military and security agencies to combat smuggling and illicit activities was praised.

Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of Customs, received commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the World Customs Organisation Council sessions in Brussels on July 3, 2026, where he was re-elected as Chairperson. RMGN reported that under his leadership, trade figures reached ₦194.94 trillion in 2025, with exports increasing by 219.5%.
