Finnish Court Jails Nigerian Separatist Leader Simon Ekpa for Terrorism and Tax Fraud

Finnish court sentences Nigerian separatist leader Simon Ekpa to six years in prison for terrorism and aggravated tax fraud. Ekpa, based in Finland, leads the Autopilot faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

He was accused of inciting violence and financing terrorism in Nigeria. The court found Ekpa guilty of participating in terrorist activities and being an influential figure in the separatist movement seeking to establish a Biafran nation.

Additionally, Ekpa was convicted of aggravated tax fraud. He denied the allegations but was remanded in custody.

The judgment highlighted Ekpa's involvement in supplying weapons, explosives, and ammunition to the Biafra Liberation Army.
