Simon Ekpa Jailed for Terrorism and Tax Fraud in Finland - Six-Year Sentence

Simon Ekpa, a former Lahti city councillor and agitator, has been sentenced to six years in prison by the Wale Igbintade District Court in Finland for terrorism and tax fraud. The court found Ekpa guilty of aggravated tax fraud and inciting terrorism by spreading violent propaganda to destabilize Nigeria.

He was accused of participating in activities of a terrorist organization and facilitating the supply of weapons to armed groups in Nigeria. Ekpa, known for advocating for an independent Biafra state, was also found to have incited violence against Nigerian security operatives on social media platforms.

The court upheld the prosecution's evidence of tax fraud, highlighting Ekpa's breach of Finnish law since moving to Finland in 2007.
