JMG Limited Advocates for Bridging Engineering Skills Gap

JMG Limited has called for enhanced collaboration between industry and academia to tackle Nigeria's engineering skills gap. The firm hosted engineering students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for an educational tour of its product facility in Lagos, marking activities for the 2026 World Engineering Day.

The event, themed "Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future," included 13 engineering students and representatives from the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers (NIMech). During the tour, students were exposed to modern engineering practices and innovations in smart systems and digital technology.

Fouad El Chami, the plant manager at JMG, highlighted that practical industrial exposure is crucial for preparing young engineers to meet the demands of modern engineering practices. He emphasized that engineering education should extend beyond classroom instruction to include real industrial experiences, allowing students to see innovative technology and problem-solving in action, thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice.
