First Lady Tinubu Commits to Girls' Education in Lagos

On [date not specified], Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, expressed her commitment to providing errant girls with a second chance at formal education during the inauguration of the renovated Alternative High School for Girls in Agboju, Lagos. Represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, she highlighted the school's establishment in 2007, aimed at helping girls whose education was disrupted by early pregnancy and socio-economic challenges.

The renovated school features two blocks with over 26 classrooms, laboratories for agriculture, physics, and biology, as well as vocational classes in cosmetology, garment-making, hairdressing, catering, and home economics. Senator Tinubu commended the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for their role in the renovation and for establishing similar schools nationwide.

She urged the Lagos State Government to complete the initiative by establishing an additional school in Lagos Central. At the event, she encouraged students to leverage the opportunity for a better future, emphasizing determination and hard work.
