UBEC Commends Oluremi Tinubu's Vision for Girls' Education

On Saturday, Dr. Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), commended First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her enduring vision for girls' education and empowerment at the commissioning of the rehabilitated Alternative High School for Girls in Agboju, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State. Garba emphasized that no girl who drops out of school should be considered a lost cause, advocating for alternative educational opportunities for young mothers and girls whose education has been disrupted.

The rehabilitated school features over 26 classrooms, vocational training areas, and facilities for various subjects. Garba noted that this initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing education and human capital development.

She also acknowledged the contributions of Hajiya Nana Shettima, who represented the First Lady, and Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the wife of the Lagos State Governor. Additionally, Garba mentioned ongoing work on another Alternative High School for Girls in Ikorodu to expand access to education.
